Chad Farnum
Chad Farnum was born and raised in Brattleboro, VT. After graduating from Brattleboro Union High School’s career center with a concentration in the electrical trade, he spent twelve years working as a carpenter. Armed with this experience in building, he founded Chad Farnum Builders in 1999. In 2004,he decided to focus on insulation - more specifically, cellulose. He liked the green qualities of cellulose and it’s impressive performance. Soon after forming Farnum Insulators, Chad became BPI certified (Building Performance Institute) and began a relationship with Efficiency Vermont offering Home Energy Audits including blower door testing and infrared scans. In the early days, Chad had one employee and help from his wife, Amelia. Since then, the business has grown to eleven full-time employees. Chad prides himself on having created a supportive, respectful and fun working environment for his crew. Chad lives in Brattleboro with his wife and daughter. He’s got lots of hobbies including beekeeping, refurbishing vintage campers and collecting antique Coleman lanterns. He is currently president of the board for Groundworks Collaborative in Brattleboro, which manages a homeless shelter, food shelf and emergency shelter for the community.
